Everyday Marriage!

So this particular post may not pertain to all of my subscribers however I’m sure it will eventually be of some help in your future possibly. So please please take what you need from it!

So as many of you know I’m a mother and yes a wife. I could sit here and tell you all about my martial life however that’s not why I’m here, maybe another time. According to the great book we all know as the Bible states “God made them male and female.’ ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.”(Mark 10:6-9). Our generation idolize the image of marriage, and fail to realize a marriage requires work, it goes through its continuous ups and downs, and the shit isn’t easy to say the least. There are a few things you must never do which I’m still learning myself about this married life.

It isn’t easy– yes I covered this above however I don’t think y’all hear me when I say this. Marriage is like a fairytale however in every fairytale there is climax of events that occur. Yes we can always play over and over again in our heads as to what we would and wouldn’t do when married however life happens no need to be in denial to that fact.

Communication– this is the number one thing that can make or break any marriage, the simple lack of communication between two people. I can say from experience that I’m extremely stubborn and when I’m in one of my funks I absolutely do not want to hold a conversation I don’t care who you are. Learning this was very difficult for me especially, I get extremely stuck in my ways which doesn’t necessarily solve anything……I’m a work in progress

Marriage is 50/50– stop trying to dictate everything that goes on, allow a man to serve his purpose which is be a man by being the provider, and running the household. My husband has stressed to me on numerous occasions that I can be severely over the top with my bossiness and I can actually agree to this……again I’m a work in progress ladies.

Lastly think about what you are saying before you say it– in the heat of the moment when things get out of control, and anger is at its all time high you tend to say things that you probably shouldn’t have. We’re human and that’s extremely understandable but words hurt and the negative things you speak into the universe towards your spouse can have a temporary if not long term effect on your marriage, or even you as a person.

A lot of these things I’m telling you are from experience, I’m so guilty of most of them and in the journey of creating a better me I’m also learning the rights and wrongs of my marriage. We aren’t perfect and I never planned on it to be something out of a storybook however when I stood before god I made a promise to my husband, myself, and God that I would honor my vows. However at the same time it also takes two to create a successful marriage. It’s all a work in progress for the both of us, and there is so much we must still learn in this journey.
